Opaqueit Blinds

Step 1: Check Your Window Recess Depth

Before taking any width or height measurements, confirm that your window recess provides enough depth for Opaqueit blinds to sit securely and operate smoothly. Required recess depth: Opaqueit blinds need a minimum depth of 3 cm to ensure proper alignment and a clean, built-in finish. Purpose of this check: Sufficient depth allows the blind mechanism to remain hidden within the frame while maintaining full functionality. Measuring method: Measure from the front face of the recess (closest to the room) to the shallowest internal point of the window frame. Accuracy tip: Take measurements at several points across the recess, as window frames may not be evenly built.

Watch for Obstructions

Before finalizing your measurements, check the window recess for any fittings that could interfere with the operation or placement of Opaqueit blinds. Window handles: Protruding handles may prevent the blind from sitting flush or moving freely. Locks or latches: Interior locks can reduce available space inside the recess and should be accounted for. Wind-up cranks: Some window styles include winding mechanisms that extend into the recess. Opening clearance: Ensure the blind will not obstruct normal window opening or closing once installed.

Measuring with Obstructions

Even when your window recess appears deep enough, internal fittings can reduce usable space and affect how Opaqueit blinds operate. Follow the steps below to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Measure the full recess depth: From the front edge of the recess (closest to the room) to the window glass.
  • Measure the obstruction depth: From the window glass to the front edge of the obstruction, such as a handle or lock.
  • Calculate usable space: Subtract the obstruction depth from the total recess depth to determine the available, unobstructed recess space.

Step 2: Measuring the Window Width

Windows are rarely perfectly straight, so accurate width measurement is essential to ensure your Opaqueit blinds fit cleanly and operate smoothly.
  • Top measurement: Measure the width at the very top of the window recess.
  • Middle measurement: Measure across the center of the recess from left to right.
  • Bottom measurement: Measure the width at the bottom of the window recess.
  • Final width: Use the smallest of these three measurements to guarantee the blind fits the narrowest part of the window.

Step 3: Measuring the Window Height

After confirming the width, the next step is to measure the height of your window recess to ensure your Opaqueit blinds fit smoothly and operate without restriction.
  • Left side measurement: Measure from the top of the recess straight down to the window sill on the left side.
  • Center measurement: Take the same vertical measurement at the middle of the recess.
  • Right side measurement: Measure from top to bottom on the right side of the window recess.
  • Final height: Record the smallest of these three measurements to ensure the blind fits the shortest point of the window.

Avoid Common Measuring Mistakes

To ensure your Opaqueit blinds fit perfectly, it’s important to measure carefully. Avoid these frequent measurement errors that can affect accuracy and installation.
  • Measuring at an angle: Always keep the measuring tape straight and level across the window recess to avoid incorrect readings.
  • Allowing the tape to bend: A bent or sagging tape can shorten measurements—hold it firmly for precise results.
  • Rounding incorrectly: Record exact measurements and round only to the nearest millimeter or tenth of a centimeter.
  • Measuring only once: Double-check all measurements to confirm consistency before placing your order.

Final Tips for Accurate Measurement

  • Be precise: Always note exact measurements. If rounding is needed, round only to the nearest millimeter or tenth of a centimeter for the best fit.
  • Provide true dimensions: Share the exact width and height of your window. Any necessary adjustments will be handled during the Opaqueit manufacturing process.
  • Measure at the fitting point: Take all measurements from the front of the window recess, as this is where Opaqueit blinds are installed.
  • Don’t worry about slight unevenness: Opaqueit blinds are designed to accommodate small frame variations, helping ensure a clean and secure fit.
